Since inception, we have been offered monetary donations time and again by individuals and other charities. We have always politely passed because we had not decided whether we wanted to operate as a for profit or non-profit organization.
We decided at the end of last year that we wanted to operate as a non-profit and apply for our 501(c)3 status. It is a long and arduous process. It takes almost an entire year to even get your status approved by the IRS. We will keep our clients informed of our progress.
In the meantime, we have decided to begin accepting monetary donations. They will be accounted for as sales for our record keeping purposes. If our status is approved in 2010, your donations will be tax deductible to the extent allowed by your financial situation. Our Board of Advisors will be published soon and we look forward to the journey ahead.
